Introduction

Origin

  • OCU Department of Tourism and Recreation Management was founded in August,2010 . Because of the global growth of Tourism and Recreation industry, the tourism and recreation industry starts to flourish in Taiwan after Taiwan opened its doors to mainland Chinese tourists. Thus, experts and personnel of high-level management in related fields are needed.
  • The OCU Tourism College, composed of the Department of Food and Beverage Management, the Department of Hotel and M.I.C.E. Management and the Department of Applied English, is the first College in central Taiwan that focuses on Tourism and Hospitality.

Objectives

  • According to the educational objectives of the university and the college, the objective of the TRM department is to train high-level management personnel to develop humanistic literacy and language skills and to blend theory and practice in the tourism and recreation industry.

Features

  1. OCU TRM, the very first tourism-related department to offer a series of professional courses in the field of Aviation Services, employs current and retired flight attendants as instructors to train students to be qualified flight attendants for major airlines.
  2. With the shift of the recreation trends in Taiwan, Bike Tour Leader Training courses as well as counseling and guidance to obtain associated certificates are provided.
  3. All seniors from day program are required to pursue full-year credit-bearing internships for 18 credit hours. There are about 100 partners for students to choose from. Domestic partners include resorts, five-star hotels, airlines, chain restaurants and travel agencies, whereas Overseas partners include well-known tourism and recreation-enterprises in Japan, Singapore, mainland China, the United States and other countries.

Career Opportunities: civil service positions in the related field, flight crews (flight attendants) , airline operators, cruise ship positions, travel agents and business representatives, tour leaders, tour guides, foreign language tour guides, resort management personnel, leisure farm management personnel and bike leaders.
